Calling all wildlife-loving mountain men & women

6/3/2020 Update: Due to COVID-19 hardships, we’ve reopened our application window until June 17th for hiring one or more individuals. We will be conducting field research activities this summer under a strict COVID-19 mitigation plan, which technicians must be willing to follow while working in the field and residing in project housing on lieu time. This summer is unique and unfortunately, we cannot accommodate technicians who need to travel away from the study area during the field season. Applicants from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. US and Canadian citizens, or persons possessing an active J-1 visa only, please).

Original Post: Do YOU like to climb mountains and (by chance) have experience recreating off-trail in Glacier National Park? Have a background in wildlife ecology or an appreciation for wildlife too?

Taking place primarily in Glacier National Park (Montana USA), our research is investigating grizzly bear use of army cutworm moth aggregations at select high-elevation talus slopes across the study area. We’re looking for adventurous souls who 1) relish living/working in the mountains, 2) are capable of safely working in proximity to grizzly bears, and 3) would enjoy contributing their physical (and more importantly) mental strength to this graduate research effort. For their exertion, we will pay, house, and feed technicians.

With great effort on this project comes greater reward. The position requires extensive effort. In return, technicians will be provided with a memorable experience they won’t soon forget.

  1. Hey…

I may just have to apply, as this could be most amazing. Just looked up an old resume for my old job as permit writer, as They need it. Had to throw in a few more words to qualify, but I’m not sweating it. I’d have 3 days off I could contribute. It’d be fun to run after moths, and be out in the wild.

    Hope you’re doing well.
